About the project

Currently, we are looking for a Cross-Platform App Developer for our key client, a privacy-focused technology company building secure, user-friendly tools for developers and teams. The organization is on a mission to redefine authentication with a minimalist approach, offering an elegant one-time password (OTP) manager designed for developers who value both simplicity and control. Built with a strong emphasis on data ownership and open-source transparency, the platform empowers users to self-host their infrastructure, eliminate third-party dependencies, and take back full control over sensitive authentication data. As a lean, security-first company, it is creating foundational tools for modern, privacy-conscious development workflows.

We are looking for a Cross-Platform App Developer for a short-time project, who’s confident in building cross-platform desktop applications and comfortable working independently while making key architectural decisions. This role is a great fit for someone with a product-focused mindset and the ability to adapt quickly within a lean, fast-paced startup environment.

Your duties

As a Cross-Platform App Developer, you will be responsible for:

- Leading the design and implementation of a cross-platform Electron application (Windows, macOS, and potentially iOS/Android).
- Collaborating closely with founders and technical stakeholders to evaluate and finalize the tech stack (Node.js, SQLite, React optional).
- Architecting and maintaining core application logic with a strong emphasis on modularity, maintainability, and cross-platform performance.
- Implementing robust testing strategies using Playwright and ensuring core functionalities meet high-security standards.
- Coordinating async via Matrix chat, and contributing documentation to ensure project continuity.
- Integrating AI tools into the workflow (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and staying up to date on AI-assisted development practices.
- Ensuring scalability and maintainability of the codebase while operating independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software development.
- Proven experience building, maintaining, and releasing Electron apps across Windows, macOS, and optionally mobile platforms.
- Experience with Node.js and SQLite (React is a plus).
- Previous startup experience, preferably as a founder or early-stage employee.
- Ability to work independently and asynchronously within a remote team.
- Familiarity and comfort with AI-based developer tools like GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or Claude.
- Commitment to delivering secure, well-tested software with coverage of core functionality.
- English language Upper Intermediate (B2) is a must.

Nice to have:

- Solid experience with Playwright or similar end-to-end testing frameworks.
- Understanding of the entire software lifecycle from concept to deployment.
- German language
- Prior experience developing fintech, security, or productivity tools.
- Interest in long-term collaboration, ideally with flexible part-time availability.
